Fellow gamers,
We would like to thank you for the huge response to the Splinter Cell Pandora
Tomorrow multiplayer demo. The number of downloads has been incredible.
Unfortunately we are aware that some of you have encountered crashes when trying
to join a server in the multiplayer demo. These crashes are due to a problem
that we did not discover during our intense testing procedure.
REASONS for the crashes :
The crashes are related to NAT (Network Address Translation) usage or by some
makes of firewall.
1. In the case of a NAT problem
To solve the problem please configure NAT to open the following ports : UDP
8888 and 45001.
2. In the case of a firewall issue
A PC behind a firewall has the same problem. It is therefore necessary to allow
access to the following ports : UDP 8888 and 45001. For more information on
how to configure your firewall please check the documentation or contact the
manufacturer.
If this does not resolve the problem, then it is likely that this solution
has not been applied to the PC you are trying to join.
CORRECTIVE PATCH
A patch for the demo is available to download from www.splintercell.com
Once the patch is installed an error message will be displayed when a session
is no longer available instead of the game crashing to the desktop.
If you have downloaded the demo of Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow after 26th
March, you do not need to download the patch as the new version includes this
correction. In either case all versions of the demo are compatible with each
other.
Even with the patch installed we recommend that you configure NAT or your firewall
as outlined above to allow you to join as many sessions as possible.
The Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow multiplayer team join me in wishing you
a tension filled gaming experience like none other.
